British artist Jamie T has a new album out now on Epitaph Records (US) called Carry On The Grudge. Jamie T is a gold-selling, Mercury prize-nominated artist from Wimbledon, South London and this is his first proper US release. Jamie T is signed to Virgin Records in the UK where the album is also out now. According to NME, Jamie T is "one of the most original, exciting musicians of the last decade." And The Guardian defines him as "a modern original".
Jamie T has released two albums already. The first is Panic Prevention (a Mercury Prize nominated album) in 2007 and Kings & Queens in 2009. Five years have passed since Jamie T has released music. During the stretch, the punk-inspired singer-songwriter (born Jamie Alexander Treays) went traveling in America on an isolated but essential voyage of self-discovery. Perhaps this is why Carry On The Grudge contains a pensive air of personal sadness and longing. Words fit snugly into melody, there are rattling post-Clash rhythms, with irreverent tips of the hat to Prince Buster, Madness and The Who.
