Turbonegro member struck with beer bottle; stitches required
Rising Scandanavian comic rock outfit Turbonegro were bottled off-stage in NEW YORK at the weekend (March 30), leaving frontman HANK VON HELVETE hospitalised.
The band were playing their first ever headline show in the US in New York's Mercury Lounge after a tour of the US as support to Queens Of The Stone Age. Three songs in, some of the 500 crowd became restless and threw several bottles at the stage. One of them caught Von Helvete plum on the head. The show was stopped and he was taken to the nearest hospital where doctors put ten stitches in his forehead. He was kept in hospital overnight for observation.
Despite the setback, the band played the second of two New York shows last night (March 31), moving from the Mercury Lounge up to the bigger Bowery Ballroom.
