The new Dropkick Murphys live album scores an "A"
Dropkick Murphys
"Live on St. Patrick's Day from Boston, MA"
This one is for Boston. An awesome blend of barroom anthems and traditional Irish folk songs, the Dropkick Murphys are back. Live on St. Patrick's Day is a true representation of this band and the intensity of the group's live performances.
This CD has over an hour of music and 26 tracks for you to drink a pint to. If you have never seen this band live, you are missing out. But until you get the chance to partake in the sweaty crowds and fist pumping action of boot-stomping skinheads, this album will have to suffice.
Live includes some of the group's classic songs like 'Barroom Hero,' 'Good Rats and Boys on the Docks.' It is fun to hear the crowd interaction of a full club of fans singing each word along with the band. And, of course, the 'Spicy McHaggis Jig' is a new classic, which is something you need to witness on a stage to get the full effect.
If you have any interest in raucous punk and loud bagpipes, and if you like to drink like an Irishman then this is the band for you. No one can blow through such a large set of songs and then come back out for an encore. The Dropkick Murphys are truly a working-class band.
