The Locust get 4K's from KERRANG!
Oddball underground noise favourites release their debut for Epitaph. Like a swarm of their namesakes indiscriminately destroying come hotly-tipped San Diego hardcore quartet The Locust. Eight years into their career and they unleash this, an opus of sorts. With titles ranging from dumb yet appropriate ('Can We Please Get Another Nail In The Coffin Of Culture Theft') to the cretinous ('The Half-Eaten Sausage Would Like To See You In His Office'), all the songs are short, abrasive blasts of shouty Dillinger Escape Plan/Blood Brothers hardcore with added comedic bleeps and technical proficiency designed to impress.
Over the course of 23 songs the musical chaos and aural intensity wanes somewhat-by album closer 'Pick-Up Truck Full Of Forty Minutes' it feels like the joke's on you. Even so, the volume, the velocity and insanity are hugely impressive.
