New York, NY – Motion City Soundtrack will grace the cover of Alternative Press’s influential “Most Anticipated” issue – on newsstands in December 2006. This comes on the heels of their highly successful sophomore album Commit This To Memory and in anticipation of the follow-up CD due out in 2007. In addition, the band will hit the road one last time this year when they join up with The All-American Rejects Tournado Tour as the main support on November 24th at the Reliant Arena in Houston, TX.
Since the June 2005 release of the band’s critically acclaimed sophomore record Commit This To Memory, Motion City Soundtrack has sold more than 250,000 copies of the new record, been featured in Blender, Rolling Stone and Spin, performed live on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and Jimmy Kimmel Live and have toured extensively. They were one of the headliners on this past summer’s Van’s Warped Tour and headlined mtvU’s Campus Invasion tour this past spring. Prior to the Campus Invasion tour, the band went out on a headlining tour of their own in the US, selling out venues such as Irving Plaza in NYC, Soma’s Main room in San Diego, and The Rivera Theatre in Chicago and playing to over 40,000 kids nationwide. In addition, they were part of last fall’s Nintendo Fusion Tour and over the course of the past year and a half, have toured the UK, Japan and Australia.
In the summer of 2006, Epitaph re-released Commit This to Memory. The deluxe re-release includes Hooray For the Madness, a bonus DVD with over 3 hours of footage, a new album track, and updated artwork. DVD highlights include a documentary of the band’s early years, all of their music videos including an exclusive video for “L.G. FUAD” and a live concert filmed at the famed 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis.
Furthermore, this past summer the band had featured tracks on the Sound of Superman CD and the John Tucker Must Die soundtrack. Motion City Soundtrack recorded a new track, “The Worst Part…” with Eli Janney (Girls Against Boys) for the Sound of Superman CD, out on Rhino Records and their song “Better Open the Door” was featured on Fox’s teen comedy John Tucker Must Die, starring Jesse Metcalfe, Sophia Bush, Ashanti, and Jenny McCarthy.
