Matchbook Romance gets 8.5/10 on their new, upcoming album
It has almost been 5 months since "West For Wishing" EP came out and already Matchbook Romance pump out their new album "Stories And Alibis". When I first heard Matchbook I was really ecstatic about them. I really enjoyed their music, but I felt they were still lacking something. The EP was a good start, but they need to become more uniformed as a group. Also, that the production of the album wasn't that great. Well, my how opinion on that deal went out the window when I heard this new album. The guys of Matchbook have made one hell of an amazing album.
The production is perfect and the vocals sound ten times better than they did on the EP. One thng I was surprised was that they only included one song of the EP and that was "The Greatest Fall (Of All Time). I'm glad they did that because I hate when bands put out an EP and basically make half the new CD, the EP. So thank you Matchbook for that and Epitpah.
Matchbook formed into a completely different band on "Stories And Alibis". Their sound is more together and almost defect less. 7 of the tracks on this album could all be their singles; that is how good the album is. Many of the songs are like rock ballads. When I sit down and listen to "Playing For Keeps", "Promise", "Lovers And Liars", "My Eyes Burn", I swear I don't stop singing or rocking out. I may sound idiotic in that statement, but it is the truth. I'm seriously in awe of this album and so proud of these guys.
Matchbook do take it down a notch with two songs on the album, "Tiger Lily" and "Stay Tonight". I first didn't like "Tiger Lily" cause I thought it disrupted the whole album. The pace was going fast and it came to a halt, but after a few more listens I started to really enjoy the song. "Tiger Lily" is a very sincere song about basically telling a girl that you want to see her because you don't want to hurt her anymore. I'm glad I gave this song a chance, because it is actually one of my favorites now.
I could go on and on about how good this album is, but I don't want to over hype it. I want you guys/girls to decide for yourself. September 23rd, "Stories And Alibis" hits stores. Gives these guys a listen and hopefully you like them as much as I do.
