FRED Shares Anti-Pop Anthem “U Want Me Dead”
Fueled by a youthful energy and enthusiasm to create, FRED is a new project on the scene by Freddie Criales and Tristan Torres (of Orlando band Magnolia Park). Today, the prolific musicians drop their emotionally charged debut single, "U Want Me Dead" via Epitaph Records.
In “U Want Me Dead,” despondent vocals and painfully honest lyrics are paired with a bouncy rhythm and vibrant synths for a bittersweet anti-pop anthem. The catchy hook explodes with angsty power chords inspired by pop-punk and alt-rock acts as Freddie confronts his anxiety-ridden introversion as a person with whom he is having a conversation. Equating his anxiety to the daily battles of enduring a toxic relationship, Criales categorizes the song as “the ultimate anthem for anybody struggling in a relationship.”
Inspired by a new wave of artists in the alt and anti-pop scenes, FRED is a multimedia endeavor created with simple goals in mind – to make music for people who feel like they’re outsiders and to create great art.
