FRED Share Two New Singles “Monday” & “Self Destruct”
Fueled by a youthful energy and enthusiasm to create, FRED is a new project on the scene by Freddie Criales and Tristan Torres of Orlando band Magnolia Park. FRED made their debut with anti-pop anthem “U Want Me Dead” and today share a pair of new singles titled “Monday” and “Self Destruct” via Epitaph Records. The singles and accompanying lyric videos are perfect complements to each other, fusing alternative and anti-pop elements as a backdrop to explore heavy lyrical themes related to mental health.
“Monday” is a catchy alternative tune that tackles the ongoing everyday battle of depression, with Freddie Criales coining it as “the soundtrack to anyone going through a rough time and struggling to make it through the week.”
“Self Destruct” picks up the tempo with a looping bassline, energetic drums and a whirlwind of distortion that sonically represent the chaotic sensation of losing control. Through lively vocals Criales expresses the intrusive thoughts that take over in his brain, with jarring imagery juxtaposed with the upbeat track. “When your world is on your fire, the only thing left to do is self-destruct,” he explains.
Inspired by a new wave of artists in the alt and anti-pop scenes, FRED is a multimedia endeavor created with simple goals in mind – to make music for people who feel like they’re outsiders and to create great art.
